Stellenbosch DA wins majority: 28 of 45 seats after 2026 vote
Provisional IEC tallies give the DA 28 of 45 seats on the Stellenbosch council, a clear majority. ANC is second on 5 seats, PA on 4.

Provisional IEC figures now show the Democratic Alliance with a majority on the Stellenbosch local council: 28 of 45 seats, after seats were allocated for the Cape Winelands municipality (The Outlier, update 14:20 Africa/Johannesburg on 6 November 2026; ESP Stellenbosch from IEC data; Rateweb Stellenbosch results).

ESP still showed 49 of 50 voting districts in at 14:21 SAST, with one ward district outstanding, but the seat arithmetic already locks in a DA majority.
