Parts of Parow and nearby suburbs went into Thursday, 22 October 2026, without water, according to residents' reports on ESP. The City of Cape Town has not posted a restore time for the area. Planned maintenance and pressure tests are also set to affect several other suburbs today.
This is a developing story. Last updated: 22 October 2026, 00:20 SAST.
Which areas are still off?
- Parow, Parow North, Churchill Estate, Clamhall and Fairfield Estate: Residents' reports on ESP show all five areas still off just after midnight. Clamhall has been off since about 11:00 on 21 October and the other four since about 12:30. ESP lists restoration as "not yet confirmed". This is based on residents' reports, not a City notice (ESP).
- What the City has said: Its only related post is a planned maintenance notice for Parow Valley from 10:00 on 21 October, with no end time (City alert, 21 Oct). The City has not said whether this work is behind the outage in the five areas above.
- Noeline Crescent, Eversdal: The City reported an outage here on Wednesday afternoon that could also affect the surrounds (City alert, 21 Oct). Its feed listed a crew on site for a burst main with an estimated end of 23:00 on 21 October. That listing no longer appears on the City's current alerts feed (City service alerts), but the City has not posted that water is back.
What residents are reporting
Residents' reports on ESP on Wednesday evening said water came back in Churchill Estate for almost two hours before going off again, and was back at very low pressure in Sarel Cilliers Street. Residents also reported water off in Glenlily Street, Parow East, since Wednesday morning (ESP). An ESP summary of residents' reports gave an expected time of 22:00 on Wednesday, which has passed. That time did not come from the City.
Restored on 21 October
The City said water is back in Connaught Road, Beaconvale (City), the high-lying areas of Khayelitsha (City), Lukhanyo Street, Mfuleni (City), Kingfisher Walk, Hout Bay (City) and Zeeland Street, Ruwari (City).
Planned work today
- Khayelitsha low-lying areas and Lynn's View, Heldervue and Bakkerskloof (Somerset West): zero-pressure tests from 09:00 to 16:00. You may have low pressure or no water (City media release).
- Tamboerskloof and Gardens: zero-pressure tests from 10:00 to 17:00 (City media release).
- Brackenfell South: valve work between Stasie Street and Kruin Street, and possibly surrounding streets, from 09:00 today to 15:00 on Friday, 23 October. The City says the work may take longer than expected (City service alerts).
