How do you find your own ward's result?

On the IEC dashboard, pick your municipality and then your ward. The IEC's downloadable "detailed results" report breaks votes down per party for each municipality and voting district, according to the IEC results page.

ElectionSePush has a ward search and pulls the IEC's figures ward by ward from 21:00, SA Tech News reports. The app says it has permission from the IEC to publish the results, and that figures it finds unusual are checked with the commission and then held back or shown with a note.

Are third-party trackers official?

No. Only the IEC declares results. Apps and news portals repackage the IEC's data, so if a number on a tracker doesn't match the IEC dashboard, go with the IEC.

Why will early numbers look odd?

Results arrive one voting district at a time, so the first few hours reflect only the districts counted first. A party leading at midnight can lose ground by morning. Seats per council are only clear once most districts are in.

The IEC has until about 11 November to declare final results, within seven days of voting day. We explain the timeline in when the election results will be announced.
