Tshwane water outages today (8 November 2026): areas hit

Bronkhorstspruit, Zithobeni, Ekangala and nearby areas must still use tap water for flushing toilets only. Several Tshwane reservoirs are critically low, with low pressure in Mabopane, Soshanguve, Winterveldt and Mamelodi.

Residents of Bronkhorstspruit, Zithobeni, Ekangala, Ekandustria, Rethabiseng and surrounding areas must still use tap water for flushing toilets only, even if water is back or runs clear, the City of Tshwane said on Sunday, 8 November 2026 (City of Tshwane on X). Elsewhere, the City says most systems in Regions 1 to 6 are steady, but several reservoirs are low or critically low and some areas still get low pressure or interruptions (City of Tshwane on X).

The City says high water use is slowing the recovery (City of Tshwane on X).

Is Bronkhorstspruit tap water safe today?

No. Do not use it for drinking, cooking, bathing, brushing teeth, baby formula or washing fruit and vegetables. The restriction stays until the City and Rand Water issue official clearance (City of Tshwane on X; Daily Star).

The City says the latest lab tests show water in the plant's clear water sump and bulk supply system meets physical and microbiological standards. Teams are still flushing and testing the pipes to homes and businesses, and low pressure has made flushing difficult in some sections, so you may see discoloured water (City of Tshwane on X).

When will water fully return in Bronkhorstspruit?

The City cannot yet confirm a date. It says full restoration depends on good water quality results in the local network and reliable pumping (City of Tshwane on X).

Bulk pumping resumed on 3 November, but mechanical problems with the high-lift pumps have delayed a steady supply. Some parts of Bronkhorstspruit and lower-lying parts of Zithobeni get water intermittently. Further planned shutdowns may be needed to finish mechanical and electrical work (City of Tshwane on X).
