Update (12:28 SAST, 6 November 2026): The City has deployed water tankers more widely across the metro. In Region 1: parts of Mabopane Blocks A, V, R and UX, parts of Soshanguve Blocks VV and WW, and parts of Winterveld (Slovo and Ext 3). In Region 2: Hammanskraal, Kanana, Kudube Units 5 and 7, Majaneng, Mandela Village, Mashimong and Sekampaneng. In Region 3: Waterkloof Ridge (Carina Booster). Region 4 has supply and no tankers today.

Parts of Tshwane still face dry taps, low pressure and critically low reservoirs on Friday, 6 November 2026, even as the City says supply is stabilising across much of the metro. Officials link the strain to infrastructure failures, reduced bulk water from Rand Water and high household use (City of Tshwane on X, EWN).

Which areas are affected today?

The City posted the Mamelodi and Refilwe updates mid-morning on Friday (City of Tshwane on X, City of Tshwane on X). The Rethabiseng spring water warning was issued earlier the same morning (City of Tshwane on X).

OurPower's live board, which tracks active municipal outage cards, showed no separate "active outage" listings for Tshwane at about 11:20 SAST. That does not cancel the City's own reservoir and tanker updates above (OurPower Tshwane).

How low are the reservoirs?

Soshanguve L TowerAbout 6%Region 1

Those critically low readings were highlighted in Friday's coverage of the City's latest supply update (EWN, City of Tshwane on X). In its 5 November statement the City also listed Mabopane Main at 22%, Ga-Rankuwa East at 33% and Lotus Gardens at 29%, and said pumping to some higher-lying areas stays on hold until Carina Street reservoirs hold a sustained 55% (City of Tshwane statement via X).

What should residents do?

The City asks households to use water only for essential needs, fix leaks quickly and avoid hosepipe garden watering, car washing and filling pools. It says demand is still outpacing refill in several systems, so savings protect the recovery (EWN).

If your suburb has no water or very low pressure, report it to the City fault centre on 012 358 9999 (24/7) or 012 358 2111, or use the City website (OurPower Tshwane).

Is there load shedding affecting pumps today?

National load shedding status was stage 0 (no load shedding) on Friday morning according to Eskom's published status feed (GetStatus returned 1). Local pipe bursts and reservoir levels remain the main water story in Tshwane today.

We will update this page if the City posts a new regional board or restores Mamelodi without tankers.
