Update (11:45 SAST, 29 October 2026): Bronkhorstspruit is still without safe tap water, but the City of Tshwane says emergency tankers are running again in Regions 5, 6 and 7 after the Cullinan hydrant passed its water-quality tests (Jacaranda FM). For today's affected areas and updates, see Tshwane water outages (29 October 2026).

Update (11:55 SAST, 28 October 2026): The City of Tshwane says water has now been restored to all areas supplied by the Garsfontein and Elardus reservoirs. Technicians started pumping to Elardus Park, Moreleta Park, Rietvallierand and Wingate Park last night after reservoir levels improved. If your area still has no water, report it on 012 358 9999, and keep using water sparingly so the reservoirs don't drop again (City of Tshwane, 28 Oct).

At the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works, cleaning of the larger reservoir is done and filtration preparations are about 90% complete. Testing, chlorination and flushing start once the smaller reservoir is cleaned. The unsafe-water advisory for that area still stands (TimesLIVE).

Parts of Tshwane are still without water on Wednesday, 28 October 2026. High-lying parts of Moreleta Park and Elardus Park remain dry, the Klapperkop system is critically low, and the city warns that residents in Regions 5, 6 and 7 may face delays in water supply and tanker deliveries today (City of Tshwane, 28 Oct).

Which Tshwane areas have no water today?

  • Moreleta Park and Elardus Park (high-lying parts): still without supply. Water has started returning to low-lying homes on the Garsfontein and Elardus Park systems (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).
  • Klapperkop system: critically depleted, with its receiving reservoir at about 5%. Carina Street Reservoir has improved slightly, but pumping depends on further recovery (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).
  • Mabopane, Queenswood, Louwlardia and Constantia Park: the city says these remain under significant pressure (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).
  • Regions 5, 6 and 7: possible delays in water supply and tanker deliveries today (City of Tshwane, 28 Oct).
  • Selected high-use areas: targeted overnight restrictions continue (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).

Why are tanker deliveries delayed today?

The city says an operational problem at the Cullinan hydrant, the main filling point for its tanker fleet, is behind today's delays. Technical teams are on site (City of Tshwane, 28 Oct).

Tanker filling at the hydrant was suspended on 27 October after routine testing found elevated turbidity (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct). The city has asked Magalies Water to help and is waiting on test results before filling can safely resume (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).

When will water return in Moreleta Park and Elardus Park?

There is no official time yet. The Garsfontein reservoir is back at healthy levels and pumping to Elardus Park has been running continuously, but the Elardus Park reservoirs must refill enough before booster pumps can safely push water to higher areas (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct). The pumps will be switched on as soon as that level is reached (Jacaranda FM).

Is Bronkhorstspruit tap water safe yet?

No. The unsafe-water advisories for areas supplied by the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works and Hammanskraal Phase 3 are still in place. Don't use that tap water for drinking, cooking, preparing food or personal hygiene. Boiling it does not make it safe, and tap water stored before the advisory should be thrown away (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).

Repairs are moving. The larger reservoir at the plant has been cleaned, filtration preparations are about 90% complete and a generator is connected at the raw-water intake. The teams aimed to finish the remaining cleaning today so testing, chlorination and flushing can start (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).

What should I do if I have no water?

  • Use only city-approved alternative water. Independent tanker operators must be tested and authorised by the city before they can distribute water (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).
  • Don't collect drinking water from rivers, dams, streams, wells or unverified boreholes, even if it looks clean (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).
  • If you do have water, use it only for essentials. Don't water gardens, wash cars or fill pools (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct).
  • Call the City of Tshwane on 012 358 9999, or use USSD \*120\*5757# and the city's regional WhatsApp channels for updates (City of Tshwane, 28 Oct).

The city says it will keep sharing updates after the daily meetings of its water management committee (City of Tshwane, 27 Oct). Yesterday's coverage is in our 27 October Tshwane water update.
