Johannesburg power outages today (7 November 2026): affected areas, causes and when power returns

Update (19:55 SAST, 7 November 2026): City Power says a fault has cut power to 24 load centres in Wilgespruit, Honeydew, Honeydew Manor, Honeydew Grove and Honeydew Ridge, and teams are on site looking for it (City Power, 19:45). In Kibler Park and Southfork, which are fed by Eikenhof Substation and have been off since 5 November, a cable fault has been found, but because of access problems the team will only attend in the morning (City Power, 19:34).

Update (19:25 SAST, 7 November 2026): City Power has confirmed two more outages in Roodepoort that started on Friday, 6 November. Power is partly back in Roodepoort West, Roodepoort West Extensions 1 and 2, and Manufacta Extension 2, but eight load centres stay off until the fault is found and repaired (City Power, 19:16). In Horizon View, the fault has been found and eight load centres stay off until it is repaired, with no restoration time given (City Power, 19:12).

Several Johannesburg areas are without electricity on Saturday, 7 November 2026. City Power has restored 76% of customers in Emmarentia and Roosevelt Park after a morning outage, but four load centres stay off until repairs are done (City Power, 17:49). Johannesburg CBD (Bree Substation), Parkwood and Blairgowrie also have unplanned outages, and parts of Pimville Zone 9 in Soweto have been off since Friday (City Power, 16:54; City Power, 16:43; City Power, 16:25).

Which Johannesburg areas have no power today?

These are the latest statuses City Power has posted. Times are SAST.

Residents on ESP, a community outage app, have also reported power off since Saturday morning in nearby Linden, Greenside, Melville, Ferndale, Victory Park, Pine Park, Beverley Gardens and Franklin Roosevelt Park (ESP). These are residents' reports, not official confirmation, and some may fall under the Roosevelt Park and Blairgowrie outages above. City Power says its Hursthill team, which covers these suburbs, is attending to numerous outages (City Power).

In Eskom-supplied areas, Eskom says power is back in Craigavon (Eskom).

When will power be restored?

City Power has not given restoration times for any of the outages above. For Roosevelt Park, it says the remaining load centres will stay off until repairs are done (City Power). For Pimville Zone 9 and Kliptown, the fault has been found and the team is sourcing material (City Power). Switch off non-essential appliances while the power is off, so the network is not overloaded when supply returns.
