Brakpan has been without electricity since earlier this week, and the City of Ekurhuleni now expects power back at 22:00 tonight, Saturday 31 October 2026. Repairs on the oil filled cables were set to resume this morning (City of Ekurhuleni call centre on X).
Glen Marais in Kempton Park also has an outage this morning, with no restoration time yet (call centre on X).

Why has Brakpan been off for so long?
The city says electrical tests found several faults along the 33 kV cable route, which then had to be located and dug up before repairs could start (City of Ekurhuleni on X). City spokesperson Zweli Dlamini told the Brakpan Herald that a restoration time would only be given once all the faults had been found (Brakpan Herald). The 22:00 estimate is the first time the city has given one.
Is Boksburg's power back?
Mostly. On Friday evening the city said power in Boksburg East had been fully restored, and gave estimated restoration times of 19:00 for Sunward Park and 20:00 for Boksburg West (Beyers Park, Comet, Ravenswood, Jansen Park and Eveleigh) (call centre on X). It said the remaining pockets listed above would be attended to on Saturday (call centre on X).
