Mzansi's John Wick says this driveway habit could save your life

Sidney Hill, the Pinetown dad South Africans have nicknamed their own John Wick, has a simple safety tip for the festive season, and the clip has about 139,000 views since @plus27daily posted it on 28 October. In the short interview he tells drivers to check their surroundings and to reverse into their driveways.

Hill went viral after dashcam footage showed an attempted hijacking outside his Pinetown home on 9 October, when he was heading out with his two children. Police said the suspects opened fire and he fired back, fatally wounding one of them. A 35-year-old man has since been arrested and charged, and police opened attempted murder, attempted carjacking and inquest cases. Hill manages a private security company.

His advice in the clip: before you get out of the car or leave your gate, look around and make sure nobody is standing near your driveway. If someone is, keep your doors locked and stay alert. And if you can, reverse in so you can drive straight out if you need to.
