Taxi violence kept them from home, so the boss booked a BnB
A Cape Town coffee shop boss booked his staff a BnB and bought them KFC when taxi violence left them unable to get home. Watch the TikTok and see what Mzansi is saying.
When taxi violence meant a group of Cape Town coffee shop workers couldn't get home, their boss booked them a BnB for the night and handed out a KFC supper. Aphiwe Gwilikana (@aphiwegwilikana) filmed him unpacking the food on the patio and posted it on Wednesday night, 28 October, captioned "Give this man his flowers". It passed 140,000 views and 23,000 likes in under a day.
The video tags Platō Coffee, and commenters say the shop is the Green Point branch. Reported couldn't independently confirm which branch it is or the boss's name. The on-screen text says simply: "Pov: your boss booked a BnB for you and your colleagues because you couldn't go home."
It landed in a week when taxi-linked shootings left three people dead and six wounded across Delft, Mfuleni, Gugulethu and Khayelitsha, and the City closed the Delft taxi interchange. Reported has a guide for commuters on what's happening.
