On 4 November, election day, @anfreakenzel posted a 9 second TikTok saying hello to everyone who voted with a green ID book. The clip has about 227,000 views and about 14,700 likes.
In the video she says, roughly: just want to say hello to everyone who voted with a green ID book today, and that Mzansi will die with that ID book. The on-screen text reads "Green I.D book voters." South Africa has been rolling out Smart ID cards since 2013, but many people still use the older green booklet. Home Affairs has said the green book stays valid for now, with a planned end date of 31 March 2028 for most holders (see our earlier explainer linked in sources).
