EskomSePush now tracks the election. How to follow 4 November results live
EskomSePush has launched ElectionsSePush, a free map that updates local election results in real time from 21:00 on 4 November using IEC data. Here's what it shows and how it differs from official IEC results.

EskomSePush, the app millions of South Africans used to track load-shedding, has launched a free dashboard called ElectionsSePush to follow the 4 November local government election results as they come in. (MyBroadband)
Co-founder Dan Southwood-Wells said results on the dashboard will update in real time once polls close at 21:00 on election day. (MyBroadband)
What does ElectionsSePush show?
It is a map you can browse to see results by area, along with results from previous elections. Southwood-Wells said it also tries to answer the questions ordinary voters ask, such as why they get more than one ballot and how to check that nothing dodgy is happening in the count. (MyBroadband)
Where does the data come from?
Most of it comes from the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC). Southwood-Wells said ESP has an arrangement with the commission that allows it to publish IEC data, and that it checks anything unusual with the IEC first. (MyBroadband)
Figures ESP isn't sure about are either left out or carry a note in the app and on the website saying they are unverified. (MyBroadband)
Is it an official results source?
No. ElectionsSePush is run by a private company. The IEC is the only body that declares official results, so if a number on any app or social media post looks off, check it against the IEC's website.
Why is a load-shedding app doing this?
There were only eight days of load-shedding in 2025, so ESP rebuilt the app around suburbs, local chats and outage reports. Co-founder Herman Maritz said it still has about 300,000 daily users on quiet days, rising to roughly 500,000 during big storms or water and power outages. (MyBroadband)
