Ekurhuleni water outages today (2 November 2026): affected areas, causes and when water returns
Dawnview, Fishers Hill, Primrose Hill and Primrose have no water from Churchill Pump Station, and Bedfordview and Essexwold have an intermittent supply, the City of Ekurhuleni says. No restoration times yet; tankers are out.

Update (17:01 SAST, 2 November 2026): The City of Ekurhuleni says a notice circulating on social media about an emergency water supply interruption in Kempton Park is fake, and that water supply in Kempton Park remains available (City of Ekurhuleni). The Germiston and Edenvale problems listed below are not affected by this.
Parts of Germiston and Edenvale in Ekurhuleni still have little or no water on Monday, 2 November 2026. The City of Ekurhuleni's latest system update lists Churchill Pump Station as "No water/Empty", which affects Dawnview, Fishers Hill, Primrose Hill and Primrose (City of Ekurhuleni, 1 November). In Edenvale, Bedfordview and Essexwold have an intermittent supply because of low pressure (City of Ekurhuleni, 13:01). No restoration times have been given.

The Germiston and Boksburg table is from the city's 1 November update, the most recent one it has posted for those systems. Most other Germiston and Boksburg areas on that list had adequate supply (City of Ekurhuleni).
The city also reported a burst Rand Water pipeline on Sunday that cut water to Jupiter, East Industrial, Skoonplaas and Naismith in Germiston, with no restoration time (City of Ekurhuleni, 1 November). It has not posted an update on that burst since.
How long have Primrose and Dawnview been without water?
Residents of Protea Retirement Village in Primrose told eNCA they have been without a reliable water supply for at least 51 days (eNCA). This is the residents' account; the city has not given a start date.
Ward councillor Wendy Morgan told eNCA that the area gets water for a few hours overnight, roughly between 22:00 and 05:00, and then nothing during the day (eNCA).
Why is there no water?
The city has not given a cause for the Churchill Pump Station outage in its update. Morgan says the Primrose pump station is fed directly by Rand Water and blames a shortage of supply from Rand Water, while eNCA reports that Rand Water says the Churchill pump station is running at full capacity (eNCA).
For Bedfordview and Essexwold, the city says pressure into Signal Hill Reservoir is only about 1 bar (City of Ekurhuleni). Rand Water posted fresh high consumption alerts this morning, urging consumers to cut their water use (Rand Water on X).
When will the water come back?
No restoration time has been announced for any of these areas. The city asks residents to use water sparingly (City of Ekurhuleni).
