Parts of Pinetown South and nearby areas west of Durban still have unreliable or no water on Thursday, 5 November 2026. eThekwini says it cannot yet give a date for normal supply to return (eThekwini via My Durban).

Which areas are affected?

eThekwini lists these supply zones (eThekwini via My Durban):

Supply zoneAreas
N-Pump StationKlaarwater, Phumphele, St Wendolins, parts of Nsizwakazi, Savannah Park Phases 1 and 2, Wiltshire Factories
Washington Heights ReservoirKlaarwater, Nsizwakazi, Regency Park, Latana, Hlanganisa, Gwala Road, Sarjoo Road
Intake ReservoirDemat, Progress Road, Mawelewele, Intake Road, Luganda, parts of Nagina Township, Khoseleni, Sthundu Hills, Dambuza, parts of Bell Tower Road and Grasmere Road, Mpongo Road

Residents in Savannah Park say taps still run dry several times a day, sometimes for days at a time (East Coast Radio).

What is causing the outage?

Bulk supplier uMngeni-uThukela Water has cut supply at the Durban Heights Water Treatment Works. This lowered flows in the Southern Aqueduct and dropped levels at the Northdene and Shallcross reservoirs. Pinetown South relies entirely on Shallcross, and the Washington Heights and Intake reservoirs are empty (IOL).

When will water return?

There is no confirmed timeframe. Pumping will restart once Shallcross stabilises and inflows from the Southern Aqueduct improve (eThekwini via My Durban).

Where can I get water in the meantime?

Water tankers have been sent to Klaarwater, St Wendolins, Savannah Park, Regency Park, Luganda and parts of Nagina Township (IOL).

How do I report a water fault in Durban?

Use the eThekwini app, WhatsApp 073 148 3477, call 080 311 1111 toll free, or email [email protected] (eThekwini via My Durban).

FAQ
